The purpose of this forum is to call us back into reunion and reflection, while also laying a foundation for our continued success in fostering peace, equity, and a sense of hope in social justice worldwide. Dr. Joseph Nwoye will be speaking live from the USA and will share some powerful insights over a very long career in championing diversity, equity and inclusion. Dr. Joseph Nwoye

Dr. Joseph Nwoye is the founder and president of the Systemic Diversity and Inclusion Group Company, Inc. (SDIG). Dr. Nwoye is passionate about fostering diverse work environments where everyone feels valued and included. With over 20 years of experience as a professional development leader, he specializes in diversity and inclusion research, strategy, and implementation.

His vision and advocacy for diversity and inclusion are rooted in his assessments of discrimination within public institutions. Dr. Nwoye believes public organizations must adopt a consumer-oriented approach to diversity and inclusive education, as well as workplace practices. This approach involves using tools such as SWOT analysis, D&I situation analysis, assessment components, and various evidence-based techniques to evaluate the state of diversity and inclusion in organizations and develop the necessary solutions.

Dr. Nwoye’s work includes serving as Chair of the College Diversity Committee at Montgomery College in Maryland, where his holistic approach to diversity and inclusion became known as the Montgomery College Diversity Signature Program for culturally responsive teaching.

As a pioneer and innovator in the field, Dr. Nwoye launched the first annual Student Diversity and Inclusion Conference at the Center for Multicultural Education. This event focused on encouraging diverse communities to share their unique experiences to harness the power of storytelling.

In addition to storytelling, Dr. Nwoye advocates for overcoming divisiveness and discriminatory practices by first acknowledging that these issues exist. He believes that once we recognize these divisions, we must understand their roots. This process enables us to create specific goals aimed at dismantling the societal barriers caused by these artificial divisions. Dr. Nwoye’s extensive experience, body of work, and professional development strategies for advancing global diversity and inclusion serve as a collective effort toward achieving peace, equality, and social justice.
